Consumer science is the study of providing for the well-being of individuals and households in the context of how they are influenced by marketplace institutions and communities. Consumer science draws from fields such as economics, sociology, psychology, law, and business. Consumer behavior, household finance, and consumer protection are major areas of consumer science.1
