- Entrance on Babcock Drive (east side of building) has a power door with buttons for automatically opening doors.
- All floors are accessible by elevator.
- Accessible restrooms are located on second floor (entrance level) and fourth floor.
- Assistance retrieving stack materials may be requested at the Circulation Desk on second floor (entrance level).

The most convenient parking is located in Lot 36, the parking ramp next to Steenbock Library.
- Lot 36 is a gated lot which requires either a parking permit or payment. Visitors pull a ticket upon entry and then pay by credit card upon exit.
- The ramp has disabled stalls on all levels and an elevator is located in the northeast corner of the ramp.
- The disabled stalls on Level 2 are convenient to the bridge which connects to the entrance level of the library.
- State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) disabled permits or DIS and VET DIS plates may park in the disabled stalls. Note that some disabled stalls may be restricted to UW disabled permits only. More information

Access to Print or Online Materials
Available assistance with retrieving and using library materials include:
- Regular paging services to retrieve library materials from the shelves are available to those registered with the McBurney Center on campus. Phone contacts: (608) 263-2741 or (608) 263-6393 (TTY)
- Request occasional assistance in retrieving books at Steenbock Circulation/Reference Desk, second floor.
- Requests for books from UW-Madison and UW-System libraries can be made via "Place Requests" in MadCat. These materials will be delivered to Steenbock Library or any other UW-Madison library you specify.
- Requests for articles (on-campus and off) and all other materials can be made through Article and Book Delivery services.
- Scan documents to email using networked library photocopiers. Use these scanners to send a PDF copy of documents to email and then use software with optical character recognition to convert the images to text for reading.
Access to Course Materials
- Contact the McBurney Disability Resource Center for additional assistance in captioning or document conversion services for course-related materials.
One adaptive computer workstation in Teaching Annex on first floor, includes these features:

Additional adaptive technology is available in the McBurney Learning Resource Rooms, located in several campus libraries.
TTY is available on second floor of Steenbock Library, near the entrance.
- In case of building evacuation, if you can't use the stairs, remain in the stairwell until emergency responders can reach you. Do not use the elevator in fire emergencies.
- In case of severe storms, seek shelter in interior areas away from windows.
- Emergency phones - use any staff phone, or the campus phone at the entrance on second floor.
