Wireless campus network

Laptops (your own or one of ours) can use the wireless campus network to access the Internet. Open your wireless network option and select "UWNet" from the available connections. Then open a web browser and logon with your NetID. The network will capture your session, authenticate you with your NetID, and then connect you back to your original destination.

Guest access

Beginning in January 2012, guests may access Steenbock's wireless network.  No Guest NetID is required.

The guest wireless network, named "UWNet-Guest", allows two different authorization methods.
  • UW-Madison NetID holders can log in to this "UWNet-Guest" network using their NetID and password and this will in effect keep them authenticated for the entire semester.
  • Guests without a UW-Madison NetID can authenticate using an email address and remain authenticated for seven days.
